Link to a Player Character

After starting to harden your character, each character cements their connections with other members of the cabal.

  1. Draw a line between your character and one other player character.
  2. Describe the connection.

Be sure to only make the connection to another player character. This stage is about meshing the cabal closer.

Which player character?

You should already have defined a relationship with one of the other player characters. Definitely avoid choosing them.

Pick a player character that you don’t already have some other direct connection with if you can.

It’s a good idea to agree the connection with the other player.  They don’t have to reciprocate it though. Similarly, you don’t have to return the favour if another player character connects to yours in this stage.

Connection or relationship?

The connection you make in this stage doesn’t have to be a mechanically significant relationship. But it can be if you want.

However, if you haven’t already established a relationship with another player character, then you should use this stage to cement your character’s bond with another cabal member:

  • Choose one of the other player characters.
  • Describe in what role your character sees them (such as favourite, guru, mentor, protégé or responsibility).
  • Place them in the corresponding relationship box.

Since relationships are defined as how your character perceives another, they don’t have to be agreed on both sides. Refer to the advice in the Relate to a Player Character stage for more information about establishing a relationship.
